Wellbeing & Mental Health

In a world where young people face constant pressure and change, mental health and well-being are essential foundations for growth. Our aim at aLphabet is to offer immediate emotional support, empathetic assistance, guidance, mindfulness practices and information to help our learners navigate challenges, make informed decisions and connect them with appropriate resources and interventions, ultimately fostering a healthier, more resilient generation.

Daily Practices for a Lifetime of Strength

Small daily practices can shape a lifetime of strength — here are some of the reminders we live by:

Self-Care

  • Rest is productive — your brain and body need recovery time.
  • Taking care of your body is also taking care of your mind.
  • Disconnecting from screens helps you reconnect with yourself.

Perspective

  • Doing your best will look different every day.
  • It’s okay not to be okay sometimes.
  • Progress matters more than perfection.
  • You don’t have to have it all figured out right now.

Growth

  • Mistakes are proof that you’re learning.
  • Every win matters — celebrate even the small ones.
  • Comparing yourself to others steals your joy — focus on your own journey.

Relationships & Support

  • Asking for help shows strength, not weakness.
  • Boundaries are healthy — it’s okay to say no sometimes.
  • Gratitude and kindness improve your own well-being as much as others’.

Our Well-being Committee

Our Well-being Committee sits at the heart of our caring and connected school community. Its mission is to foster a safe, supportive environment where every student and staff member feels heard, respected, and cared for. With a strong focus on emotional well-being and bullying prevention, the committee also promotes mental health awareness, digital safety, empathy education, and positive relationship-building — ensuring that kindness and respect define every interaction on campus.

Our Members

The committee brings together counsellors, leadership members, teachers, and student representatives, forming a diverse team that reflects the voices of our entire community. This collaboration ensures that decisions are inclusive and responsive to the real needs of students and staff alike.

Confidential Support

Recognizing that reaching out for help can be difficult, a confidential email channel provides a safe, private way for students to seek guidance. Whether the concern relates to stress, relationships, emotional challenges, or well-being, each message is handled with sensitivity, empathy, and absolute confidentiality — creating a foundation of trust and support.

Student Welfare Advisory Team (SWAT)

In urgent situations, the Student Welfare Advisory Team (SWAT) — composed of key leadership members — acts immediately to ensure student safety and well-being. Their swift, informed action provides timely support in cases involving welfare or child protection, reinforcing our unwavering commitment to care and vigilance.

Ongoing Well-being Initiatives

Well-being is not a one-time effort but a continuous practice woven into daily life. Throughout the year, the committee organizes sessions on emotional literacy, stress management, mindfulness, and resilience-building.

A dedicated well-being curriculum in the Primary Years Programme (including EYP) provides weekly opportunities for students to explore emotional intelligence and self-awareness.

Regular classroom observations further help identify students who may need additional support, ensuring that care is both timely and compassionate.

For any guidance or support, our team is always just an email away.
